There are so many variables to keep in mind when it comes to the life of a lamp. A manufacturer may state that the lamp is good for 1000 hours of use, but under the “correct” environment.

IMO 100w lamps will last more then a 160w and up version lamp. 160w lamps are usually in bigger beds that run more voltage through them (235 to 245 volts) and when that is being done, it means more heat and shorter life span.

Keep in mind the temp of your salon as well as how well the beds are being cooled by their own internal fans. If the salon and the beds run hot, you can kiss about 30-40% off the life span (above its normal usage) of those lamps.

I don’t have any equipment in my salon that uses 100w lamps. Everything in here is 160w and up. I have yet to have a lamp make it past the 500 hour mark and be worth the admission price to ride that ride. That’s why I yank them at 400 hours or so, and sell them off.

A lot of salons out there “top drop” at 300 hours or so. And I am going to try that system out for the next lamp cycle in a few of my beds and see how it plays out.

I do but I also own some salons. My lamps are rated the same as everyones and last just as long as everyones. I just find the whole rated life thing a bit of a joke.

I change my 160R lamps at 400+/- and my 100R at 550+/-. I do not have any beds that use regular 100w.

Reflector lamps are much different than full coat. Your change times are right on with the best of em and I'm ASSuming you are using the Superior UV lamps?

Also, 100watt lamps don't APPEAR used even when they are WELL into their lifecycle and 160watt lamps tend to look like JUNK only 150hrs in.

Our HP Lamps are called Solar Elements made by Radium and our Tubes are New Technology made by LSI.

I use Heraeus HP's and Cosmedico Sticks in my stores though.......

Actually you assumed correct!

I've used New Technology lamps with no complaints.

Hey Brandy you were not at all. It was a fair statement. Anyway I am only a self declared expert.

Okay good. I thought it was a problem with my lamps/beds that the bigger beds weren't lasting as long as the little ones!
