It is time to take the matter into your own hands. Get off your butts, go to your area printer/auto graphics center and have the following made and put it on your vehicles.
If all salon owners, distributors, manufacturers and their employees did this. It is the best main stream media that would be very inexpensive and would be across the US in a matter of days. ![]() |

Perhaps, but you get the point.
People need to look outside the box and do some of their own marketing and advertising that would only add to the power of the ITA and Berman's campaign. |

IMO we all (for the most part) have done our parts.... we educate ourselves to educate the clients. We are members of the ITA and Smart Tan, we put up educational posters in our salons, we constantly keep up with whats going on etc etc. But we as salon owners are tired of the promises of a big national ad and then continue to get nothing. Personally I'm tired of the media bashing sun, I'm tired of seeing customers at walmart who haven't tanned in a year telling me they are just too "scared", I'm tired of busting my ass to educate people when they look at me as if I'm nuts.
That is all. |

I'm thinking of getting lettering for my window that advertises www.tanningtruth.com hoping that maybe while people are sitting out there, talking on their cell phones before coming in, will see it.
I agree with Tonya - I'm so sick of trying, in a small way, to combat all the crap they hear. There are so many times when I hear "I know it's bad for me but I do it anyway", I want to say - then why are you doing it. GET OUT!! |

its going to take more than lettering on a vehicle to combat what the media has already damaged.

I am not sure that it is a good idea. If someone sees you advertising trusttanning.com or tanningtruth.com, they will assume that you are doing so because you want to promote your business. They are right. But the point is, in their eyes, you have zero credibility regarding the health issues regarding tanning. I see the trusttanning.com the same way.
We need to have them seeing this info in the national media. I think it has begun. It may not seem like much, but a press release here, a article about the latest research there, a few positive stories here and there... That is what is going to make people take notice. The fact that they keep seeing this stuff over and over. I spend a lot of time taking people to the doctor and last week was the first time in 7+ years that I have been doing this that I heard a doctor tell a patient that they have to get more uv exposure. I didn't even initiate the conversation. He just simply told this 78 year old lady that I took to the doctor that most of her problems (depression, weakness, joint pain, etc.) could be helped tremendously by getting some regular moderate UV exposure.
