When looking for new equipment, what is most important?

Any good sales man can say their units perform better than the others. I was wanting to know what people look for when they get to see the equipment before trying it out.

Things that you can see for yourself, not just taking the word of the salesperson.

For the people that choose the bells and whistles, what B & W do you like?

#1 Yup...one of the most importance above any of the options on there is Ease of maintenance. Hinged acrylics is the most important. Easily cleanable air filters also up there. I won't look at a bed anymore if it is not easy to change lamps....our Tanses beds take forever to change lamps and almost impossible for 1 person to handle the acrylics alone.

#2 Looks...must have sex appeal, wow factor, space ship worthy....believe it or not, THAT is what you can base the price you charge per session on. Not performance. Your bed can tan okay and you can charge Sungate, S-Class pricing (almost) just based on looks alone.

#3 Performance. Must perform to please all skin type (well the good beds i'm talking about...i'm done buying cheapo beds) so when a skin type 3+ punjabi walks in and is paying $18-$25+ a session, it better perform.

I agree, ease of maintenance is top on my list as well. If you have been doing this for very long and have had a tanning unit that is difficult to change lamps in, this is usually the top on your list.

THe wow is almost as important. It is a silent salesperson when your giving a tour of your salon.

Performance, I left that out of the poll because a salesperson can tell you it tans like a mo fo.

i don't buy beds based on salespeople.

When i buy beds, i call the salesperson and say "Hi, it's Dean...ship me this bed ASAP, here's my payment info, thanks, bye" That's pretty much how my conversations go with the salespeople.

I could care less what they think of the bed. They're bias towards the beds they sell.

I suggest (when it comes to bigger units) to try before you buy!!

I know the beds I sell tan.
